Admin, with all due respect, I believe your comment (#11) was in error. The UNCRC would, if ratified by the Senate, override state and even US federal laws on education. (I think it's the supremacy clause in the US Constitution that enables this to happen.) However, there is another option: Push your elected officials to co-sponsor the Parental Rights Amendment, which would stop the UNCRC cold. I am a member of ParentalRights.org, but not employed or compensated by their organization. I urge everybody to check out their info.

I homeschool my special-needs son. I took him out of public school because, I knew he could do better and they were basically ignoring him, Oh, yes I know, IEP, No Child Left Behind, all of that. Their idea of No Child Left Behind was just passing him each year. He was in the fifth grade and couldn't even multiply his zeros. And he WAS capable of that. So, now it's almost the end of his first year of homeschooling and he KNOWS ALL OF HIS MULTIPLICATION TABLES! Yep, he could do it! He just needed some guidance.
I'll NEVER send him to public school again. Over my DECAYING body will anyone take him to public school.....
I'm growing very tired of Obama. I know this is MY opinion and others have theirs, but he is ruining so many things. I can only control what I can control and that is my world here. Obama cannot control my family. And sending my special son to public school would be terrible for him, therefore, it would take a BULLET to stop me from homeschooling. Literally, I would get in my car, packed and take off for places unknown to keep him from going to public school.
I was his first teacher, I am his teacher and no one is more qualified than I am to teach him.
That's how I feel.

Charlotte...I totally agree...I have been reading a book entitled The Marketing of Evil...it touched on why/how public schools were established and that for marketing purposes they labels them as "public" schooling...sound much more possitive than "Government Schools". They want society to believe that we have a say on how the schools are run...when infact, we do not. The government wants our children very early in life to make the more tolerant. My son attened Head Start...they prayed to the earth and sun, but when I told them because of my religious views I did not want my son to participate in this prayer, they called me intolerant and said it wasn't healthy for my son. This is the program that is being formed by the government to make sure our children are influenced at an early age to accept any and all "politically correct" ideas...and place God in box on a dusty shelf where he will be seen no more. I yanked my son out of there and I am homeschooling him...no way at 5 is he going to receive sex ed or taught that "alternative" life styles are acceptable. That has nothing to do with academics and I certainly don't think that teachers should be forced to teach what parents ought to be teaching their children. I think that is why we have so many issues in the public schools. Parents are allowing the schools to be mom and dad...no parental involvement = unhappy children with no barriers in which to guide them. Anything goes.

If B.O. supported home education he would say so. But he doesn't. What he says is that he wants all teachers to be certified. Home schoolers recognize this as a thinly veiled threat to abolish home education, seeing as no parent is "certified" in every subject he/she teaches. Not only does B.O. seek to outlaw home education, but he is naive/stupid enough to believe certification guarantees better teachers. Institutionalized, compulsory schooling is a bad idea. Parents who care about their children should get them out. If the gov't forbids home education, parents should turn the same deaf ear to Washington that Washington has turned to us. " When the government fears the people, that is liberty. When the people fear the goverment, that is tyranny." Thomas Jefferson

To Mommy of 3: Oh and btw, my email is : shortncute_252000@yahoo.com. Ask God for help and you have to have the calling and you have to feel confident. Never lose faith and remember that when you feel all hope is lost, God is always there and He will never leave you. God Bless.

To Mommy of 3: I have two niece in laws that recently divorced and one of whom works full-time as a nurse and she home schools all four of her kids. You got it right- your kids are going to be brain-washed if you keep them in the public schools for very much longer. I became a Christian about five years ago, back slid, was sick with depression for a year, didn't want to homeschool, then my daughter left my home (long story) then she came back, and I had to be very involved in her school work- the public schools didn't teach her ANYTHING. She is what the public schools call her a "Special NEEDS" child." I call the public schools "Mentally disturbed government officials that like to brain-wash our kids and not allow them to think for themselves and teach them nothing and get a nice big fat paycheck off the taxpayers." I found out my son didn't even know his ABC's in forth grade! He knew them a few years ago, but he mixed them up. He forgot a lot of his cursive, and he barely knows his math beyond multiplication (one digit over one digit.) So, honey, it sounds like God is calling you. You might want to pick up the telephone- and by the way, this one is a free call! You can do it. I know a lot of REALLY good book sellers I can recommend to you for very cheap if you ever need to get set up ( I am very low income and I managed to get books for two kids for approx 140 bucks.) Shoot me an email, if you have questions. But, do whatever it takes- get those kids out of those horrible institutions that are satanic organizations (or they will be very soon) as soon as you can. If you need help, just email me.

I am a parent who prefers to homeschool my children. My mother and I are both former teachers, and we teach my children together. The government has been making it impossible for teachers to have any control over how things are being taught in the classroom. This is why all of the "good" teachers are leaving en masse and taking early retirement. No one likes having ideas that were created by government bureaucrats shoved down their throats- not the teachers, nor their students.

If I was forced to, I'd find the funding to put my children in a private/parochial school before I'd ever put them in the government run hell that is now the public school system. Save your kids before they become indoctrinated drones - take them out of public schools.
