Obama’s Uncle Helps Liberate Auschwitz
Obama tried to claim his uncle help liberate Auschwitz. Turns out, Obama’s crazy uncle in the attic story was just that, a story. He didn’t have an uncle in WW1 and the Russian army freed Auschwitz.
The campaign finally got their facts straight later. This from the Ben Smith Blog:
In fact, campaign spokesman Bill Burton says, his great uncle was a member of the 89th Infantry Division that liberated the Ohrduf camp, part of Buchenwald and, according to the Holocaust Museum, the first concentration camp liberated by U.S. troops.
There is still a problem with this. In a speech back in 2002, Obama stated nearly the same thing, but this time is was his grandfather who helped free Auscwitz. Read it on Baracks own website.
My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton’s Army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka.
